If you have ever felt like God has taken a vacation, or has abandoned you, fear not! God will never leave you nor forsake you!

“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”  Deuteronomy 31:8

When your feelings don’t line up with what the Lord says, you must walk by faith.  Feelings come and go, but the Word of God is forever.  It never changes, and neither does He.  Just because you don’t feel Him, does not mean He is not there.  Just because you don’t see things happening, does not mean He isn’t moving. Do not be discouraged.  God is always present and working all things together for the good to those that love Him and are called according to His purpose.  (Romans 8:28)

I have found when I don’t feel Him it can be either of two things.  Either He is wanting me to walk by faith and trust what He has already spoken to me.  Or, He is trying to draw me to a deeper intimacy with Him.  Just like we need to adjust our thermostat to get comfortable, sometimes we need to adjust things in our personal lives to allow the Holy Spirit to blow on us.

Not spending time alone in prayer, or going to weekly services can leave our spirits dry and needing refreshment.  Work, obligations and daily activities can totally absorb our thoughts and cause us to not hear Him as clearly as we would like. If you are experiencing a void and a desire for more of His presence in your day to day life, begin to seek Him.  Spend a little more time in prayer, read the Word or listen to some good old fashioned preaching during the week and take a break from the cares of this world. There are many times that I need to unplug from social media, the television, the news and even chatter from friends and family to readjust my spirit so I can get closer to Him.  Allow the Holy Spirit to show you ways you can detach from all the noise and get alone with Him.  He is there, waiting for you.

“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”  Jeremiah 29:13

Thank you for this post. Perfect for this season of wait. No doubt God is near, yet keeping me alone so can her Him and depend on Him. It’s not easy for me to sit still, yet I know and trust the outcome.
