The Winning Strategy

In any battle, or challenge we need to have a strong strategy in place to win.  A plan of action or set of guidelines we are going to follow to ensure a victory.  Sports teams spend time studying their opponents before a big game.  They know the strengths and weaknesses of the other team.  They have a game plan set; a way to win.  In battle, armies discuss a course of action to defeat the enemy.  The art of war includes knowing your enemy.  As Children of God, we all have the same enemy  and we must know him to defeat him.  The prince of darkness, the great deceiver; satan is roaming around ready to devour us and pounce like a lion.  We must have a game plan.  We need a strategy to defeat the devil and cast him out of our lives.

One of the most important parts of the plan to beat satan is to take control of our thoughts and our emotions.   There is no reason to fear him or to be in doubt that we have the ability to conquer him.   In Isaiah 41:10 it is written “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea,  I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”  We have the power of the Lord with us.  He is the commander of the army, our head coach as we battle the opponent.   We have confidence in this fact by focusing on the Word of God. It is the strongest weapon at our disposal. By knowing scripture and having faith to believe God’s Word to be true, we have the power to control our minds and our thoughts.  This is the power we need to shut satan down.

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord,

and in the power of his might. Put on the whole

armour of God, that ye may be able to

 stand against the wiles

of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood,

but against principalities,

against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world,

against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God,

that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day,

and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore,

having your loins girt about with truth,

 and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.

Above all, taking the shield of faith,

wherewith ye shall be able to quench

all the fiery darts of the wicked.”

Ephesians 6: 10-18

If we want to win the war, we have to take captive every thought that enters our minds. NEGATIVE THOUGHTS PRODUCE NEGATIVE ACTIONS AND NEGATIVE RESULTS.   Rather we need to meditate on the good, positive, beautiful parts of life.  “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” – 2 Corinthians 10: 3-5.   Take control of the thoughts.  Every thought of anger, or frustration.  Thoughts of disbelief or doubt.   Keep your mind set on God’s word and the blessings that He promises.  He tells us in The Word that if we trust Him and keep our minds set on Him, He will keep us in perfect peace. ( Isaiah 26:3)

It is a choice that we have to make for our lives.  We can let the enemy win by keeping our mind set on death and destruction.  We can be consumed with all the lies that the deceiver tells us and focus on the negative thoughts.  It will most definitely result in defeat for us.  Rather we can choose to meditate on those things that are of Christ.  “ Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” – Philippians 4:3.

The Victory is yours for the taking.  Let’s win the war by winning in our minds.
