“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!  IT IS like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard; that went down to the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for THERE the Lord commanded the blessing, even life forevermore.”  ~ Psalm 133:1-3

We have been speaking about the importance of unity and how it plays a major role in having your “team” win.  It doesn’t matter what that team is, everyone must have the same goal and the same mindset in order for the blessing of God to be upon it.  Of course, every team, every corporation, and every home must have a great captain, or head coach.  Someone that ultimately makes the final call.  If you are in a position of leadership, you will need to make some hard and important decisions and you must have those around you who believe in you and trust you, even when they don’t agree with the next play.  They get out there with all their heart and strength and follow your lead.

A leader will also have to use discernment and place each member accordingly.   “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers: For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ”  Ephesians 4:11-12.  Not everyone is the “star player”.  It takes every member of the team, doing what they were called to do.  Each member must be placed in the proper position.  You can have a fantastic quarterback, but if he is in the game as a defensive lineman, he is not going to do so well and the team is going to suffer.  Are your players in the right position?  Are you working in the area in which God has gifted you?

I remember like it was yesterday, when I walked into one of our preschool classrooms, I was observing one of the teachers, and mind you, she was doing a good job.  But God showed me she would make an incredible bookkeeper/office manager.  So I asked her if she ever did any bookkeeping.  Long story short, she had previously been a bookkeeper for years and absolutely loved it.  I offered her a new position, and she became the best bookkeeper/office manager our school ever had.  She was on the right team, just doing the wrong thing.

It doesn’t matter what position you are called to.  What matters is that you play with all your heart and might, as unto the Lord.  Not pleasing man, but pleasing Him.  When all of us take the gifts that have been given to us and work together in unity, God commands the blessing.
