The Strongest Weapon

As we encounter challenges and struggles in our life, sometimes it seems as if we can actually see satan lurking around, leading all the chaos.   How do we defeat him and his trickery as he tries to destroy us?  What is the strongest weapon that we have to battle  against the enemy?  We can claim victory against Satan with the truth. The truth is in God’s word Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.  Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the  wiles of the devil.”  Ephesians 6:10-11

The power of God’s truth begins in our minds. The enemy will try to defeat you through his lies and half truths.  When a negative thought enters our mind, we need to come against it with the truth.  What does God say?  2 Corinthians 10:3-5 alarms us to take captive every thought. “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:  For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;  Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”  2 Corinthians 10:3-5  Our thoughts and our minds must line up with God’s word and what is written.  It is not about what we think regarding situations, but rather what God says.  Satan will use doubt and fear to try to damage our spirit.  We have to use the Word of God to stop him in his tracks.

We defeat the enemy with the Word of God through Faith.  We use the faith that is grounded in the truth of the Fathers promises. “above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one”  Ephesians 6:16.  In order to have this faith, we need to know what God says about us.  We need to spend the time reading His word and seeking His will for our lives in order to resist the devil when he attacks.  When we are rooted in the scriptures, we make it impossible for the chaos to continue.  We are able to resist the fiery darts of the wicked one.

Satan will tempt us constantly.  He even tried to tempt Jesus.  “Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ Matthew 4:3-4  Christ himself used the weapon of God’s word to defeat the devil.  Even though Jesus was God in the flesh,  he still stood on the scriptures as his weapon.  Every time satan attempted to cause Christ to falter, it was the Word that defeated the devil.  “Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.”Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ” Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.” Matthew 4:8-11

Just as Christ did, you can combat satan with the Word of God.  When you begin to  stand upon what is written and claim victory over the enemy’s attacks, he is powerless.  The  devil does not have anything that can defeat God’s Word.  When you use your faith to speak the word of God to the enemy, he will flee.  He will depart and you will see God’s victory!
