Pastor Roberta Kay is a woman of profound faith, unwavering resilience, and a servant’s heart who has devoted over 30 years to worship and ministry. Her journey with Christ began in 1986 when she gave her heart to the Lord at Calvary Worship Center in Jensen Beach, Florida. Since then, she has faithfully walked with God, passionately sharing His love and grace through every season of her life.
In 1999, Pastor Roberta married Pastor David Paul Smith, and together they built a family grounded in faith, raising two wonderful sons, Caleb David and Michael Cameron. Driven by her love for children and commitment to shaping future generations, she founded Little Lambs Nursery in 2001, which later grew into Kidzone Preschool Academy. Under her leadership, it became one of the largest VPK providers on Florida’s Treasure Coast.
Alongside her husband, Pastor Roberta served as Senior Pastor at The River of Life International, embodying the virtues of a Proverbs 31 woman—virtuous, strong, selfless, and deeply loyal to Christ. However, her life took a heartbreaking turn in 2011 when her husband fell gravely ill, first with MRSA, a severe staph infection, and then with stage 4 liver cancer. After years of battling illness, Pastor David went to be with the Lord in January 2016, leaving Pastor Roberta a widowed single mother to their teenage sons.
Through these trials, Pastor Roberta’s faith never wavered. As 1 Timothy 5:5 states, “The widow who is really in need and left all alone puts her hope in God and continues night and day to pray and to ask God for help.” She drew strength from the Lord, experiencing His unfailing presence and grace in her darkest moments. This deepened her calling to share her story and inspire others with the power of God’s love and faithfulness.
In obedience to the Holy Spirit, Pastor Roberta founded Roberta Kay Ministries, where she continues her mission to encourage and empower others to step into their God-given destinies. Her ministry is a testament to God’s ability to bring beauty from ashes, and her leadership inspires countless individuals to walk boldly in their faith.
Pastor Roberta’s dedication and impact have not gone unnoticed. She was recently honored as Woman of the Month by Women’s Power Magazine and featured in the 2024 winter edition of the magazine. Additionally, she has been spotlighted in several podcasts and radio interviews, where she has discussed her ministry, her philanthropic efforts in Haiti, and her work throughout Florida. These platforms have allowed her to share her heart for empowering others and her commitment to doing God’s work through love and service.
