How often do you speak about things that annoy you? Things that are not going well? All the things you don’t have? Do you find yourself complaining about things that don’t really even matter? It comes naturally and is so easy to speak about unpleasant situations and focus on the negative. Unfortunately I have been on that hamster wheel way too often and it’s not that easy to jump off. But what if you were to take another approach to all those bothersome issues you might be facing? What if instead of murmuring and gossiping about all that is going wrong, you began to pray? What if you turned everything over to the Lord that you were anxious about or worried about? Philippians 4:6, tells us to “Be careful (anxious) for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. AND the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
When we bring every thing to God in prayer, He gives us peace! The word supplication comes from the Latin verb, supplicare, which means to plead humbly. Plead means to,”make an emotional appeal, or present and argue for a position”. When we come to God, pleading with humility and presenting our case to Him, we find results especially when we use His Word to argue our position. I do this many times in prayer. If I have a need, a desire or even financial help, I speak the Word of God as I come to Him. “Father, your Word says… that you will supply all my needs according to your riches. I am asking you to supply all that I need today, in Jesus name! Amen! We are to come boldly before the throne room of God. (Hebrews 4:16) Instead of complaining, pray. Plead with Him. Make your appeal to Him. Argue for your position, and see the hand of God begin to change your circumstances.
“Therefore, I say unto you, what things soever ye desire, when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them.” (Mark 11:24) I think we all spend way too much time in the grumbling department. And I am quite sure that you have not found much success in it. I guarantee you, your prayers will bring a positive outcome.
The enemy loves to keep us in bondage to stinking thinking and loves it when we sit around speaking defeat into the airwaves. I challenge you to begin turning the tide. Spend your time praying and praising God. James 4:2-3 in the amplified version reads, “You are jealous and covet (what others have) and your desires go unfulfilled; (s) you become murdered. [to hate is to murder as far as your hearts are concerned] You burn with envy and anger and are not able to obtain [the gratification, the contentment, and the happiness that you seek], so you fight and war. You do not have, because you do not ask.
Ask your heavenly Father. He is waiting to create a miracle and give you peace.
