“Do this, knowing that this is a critical time. It is already the hour for you to awaken from your sleep [of spiritual complacency]; for our salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed [in Christ]. The night [this present evil age] is almost gone and the day [of Christ’s return] is almost here. So let us fling away the works of darkness and put on the [full] armor of light. Let us conduct ourselves properly and honorably as in the [light of] day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and irresponsibility, not in quarreling and jealousy. But clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for [nor even think about gratifying] the flesh in regard to its improper desires.”. ~Romans 14:11-15 (AMP)
Paul reminds us that this is a critical time. We cannot afford to stay asleep spiritually. God is calling us to “put on the armor of light” and to clothe ourselves with Christ. That means it’s our job, daily, to make the choice to put Him on—whether we feel like it or not.
There will be days when loving others doesn’t come naturally. We may not like someone, but we are still commanded to love them. Putting on Christ means asking, How would Jesus respond? How would Jesus speak? How would Jesus live? Then we choose to walk in that same way.
Revelation promises that he who overcomes will inherit. We are conquerors, overcomers, children of the Most High God! But if we’re not clothing ourselves in Christ, if we’re not renewing our minds with His Word, we’ll miss the blessings, the favor, and the inheritance He has for us. Yes, the Lord always loves us and never forsakes us, but He also calls us to honor our commitment to grow in Him.
Jesus paid a great price for our freedom. He shed His blood so that we could walk in healing, victory, and liberty. When we continue to live bound by sin, fear, or the labels the world puts on us, we’re denying the power of what He already finished at the cross. But the truth is—we’ve been given His authority! Whatever we bind on earth is bound in heaven, and whatever we loose is loosed in heaven.
So today, let’s make the decision: no more complacency, no more excuses. Let’s put on the Lord Jesus Christ—and walk in the fullness of His power, His love, and His victory.
If you’re ready to “put on Christ”, pray this prayer today:
“Father, today I choose to put on the Lord Jesus Christ. I lay aside every weight, every label, and every lie that tries to keep me bound. I clothe myself in Your light, in Your love, and in Your truth. I declare that I am more than a conqueror, an overcomer, and a child of the Most High God. By faith, I receive Your strength to walk in victory, to love like Jesus, and to stand in Your power. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
With love and encouragement,
