Praying With The King Part 2

Spending time with God in prayer is vital to our relationship with Him.   As we have been diving into prayer these few weeks, and what the Word tells us, it is a common challenge for many of us to be able to actually find the time to pray.   How do you find the time to pray in the midst of your busy day?  The most important thing that we can do is to set a date.  That may sound funny to set a date for time with God, but it is exactly what we need to focus on.  Mark that time on your calendar.  Just as you would set time aside for a friend or family member it is even more important that we let the Lord know that He has a special time to be with us in the day.  The gift of prayer is powerful and we must take hold of that gift in order for it to be a full force in our lives.   And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.  John 14:13-14   Knowing that He has told us that we can come to Him in prayer and ask IN HIS NAME…. ANYTHING….  and HE will do it,  should make finding the time for prayer a high priority.

Even as we find the time, there is still that nagging voice that makes us wonder if we are doing it right.  Are we saying the right things at the correct times?  Are the words coming out the perfect way?   In our blog and message last week we began to talk about the example that Jesus gave for us in the Bible.  He told us how to pray to God.  Give us this day our daily bread” Matthew 6: 11 Christ is showing us the importance of preparing for the day before us.  He tells us to ask God to fill us with what we need to get through TODAY.  There is no talk about what might happen tomorrow.   Tomorrow has problems of its own and our Father doesn’t want us to concentrate on them. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” Matthew 6: 34   Just as the Lord supplied Moses and the Isrealites with manna everyday, He will supply your needs for the day when we seek HIm.

As we continue in our time with God,  we also must be sure to have a heart that isn’t full of resentment or revenge.  We must have a spirit of repentance for the wrongs we have done, and of forgiveness for those who may have offended us.  “And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.” Matthew 6: 12.   Our Father is very concerned with our relationship with others and He desires us to be at peace with one another.   If we keep our hearts hardened to our sisters and brothers in Christ, ultimately it will affect us. “Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;  Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. “  Matthew 5:23-24 .

I hope that this message has given you a new desire to pray with the King.  I encourage you to set time aside for him…. HE IS WAITING TO MEET YOU.
