Psalm 91:14-16

“Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.  He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

Your health and well being is important to the Lord.  He wants you to live a healthy, prosperous long life. When we are young, active, and vibrant we tend to think we are invincible.  We can easily believe that we will be strong, fit and healthy in our older years. As we age and factors come into play our physical being can be attacked and our faith in living strong and healthy lives can be hindered.  Stress, worry, fear, unbalanced work and play along with our eating and exercise habits can begin to take a toll on our bodies and minds.

If you are like me I find myself spending what seems to be a fortune on my outward appearance and not paying much attention to the root causes of my health.  I spent hours at the hairdresser, nail salon, getting facials and shopping for clothing and shoes.  Oh how I love a great pair of shoes.  But what will all that do if we find ourselves stressed out, weak, and unable to function the way we need to or would like to?

For myself it put me in a terrible situation.  I felt broken.  The Word of God says in Proverbs 17:22,  “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.”  Our spirit can become broken when we are not feeling up to par. My body began to slow down, aches and pains became more of a normality than the unusual.  My stomach began to feel like an over inflated basketball.  Between the stress and stomach issues, I began a quest for wellness.  I knew that God did not want me feeling worn out and He doesn’t want you to feel that way either.  His Word is filled with scripture and promises of His health and well being.  Isaiah 52:5, “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”  It is God’s desire and plan that we are healed and made whole. Jesus said himself that He came that we might have life, and that abundantly.  I truly believe that our health has much to do with our ability to live abundantly.

With the stress of life, getting older, not exercising enough and not choosing the correct life choices we can find ourselves wiped out.  Feeling older than we should feel.  Gaining weight, and feeling as if we are aging fast.  As I began to seek the Lord and His Word on my personal health He led me to seek professional help as well.  Spending money on a health coach, life coach, work out coach, or therapy may seem foolish to some of you, but why?  Aren’t you worth investing in?  Sometimes just knowing the right thing to do isn’t enough.  Sometimes we need accountability, or the encouragement from a coach, spouse or friend.  I know I needed additional help.  And as I began to invest in myself I was renewed.  Renewed in my spirit, mind and body.  I am so grateful and thankful first to the Lord for leading me to those that helped along the way and so thankful for the wisdom, love, encouragement and tools that were supplied to me through them.  Today I feel younger, healthier and stronger than I have in decades. And you can too. You can have a long life.  You can feel young again.  You can begin to prosper and be in good health, even as your soul prospers. Sometimes we just need a little nudge or someone to stand with us

If you are feeling down about your physical health and well being, I encourage you to begin today to find your perfect balance. Seek the Lord on where you should begin.  Maybe it is just getting to church each week and being filled with His Word.  Maybe a life coach, or a health coach depending on your personal circumstances?  God wants you to live a long, healthy life, filled with His presence, His promises and His blessings.  I encourage you today to invest in yourself.  It is truly the best investment you can make and there is no better time than the present to begin.
