Are You Defeating Yourself and Your Prayers?

Have you ever prayed with all your heart, only to turn around and speak the opposite of what you just believed God for? We’ve all done it. We pray, “Lord, I know You’re my provider,” and then five minutes later say, “I’ll never get out of debt.” Or we ask God to change a loved one, then complain that they’ll never change. That’s what the Bible calls being double-minded—and James 1:8 tells us that “a double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.”

When your prayers and your words don’t line up, you’re working against yourself. You’re planting seeds of faith one minute and pulling them up the next. Mark 11:23 reminds us, “He shall have whatsoever he saith.” Not just what he prays, but what he says.

Your words must agree with your faith. If you believe God is working behind the scenes, then speak like it. Talk like it. Act like it. Because faith speaks the language of victory even when the situation looks the same.

If you’re believing God for provision, start declaring, “I am blessed and highly favored. God supplies all my needs.” If you’re believing for healing, say, “By His stripes, I am healed.” And if you’re praying for a loved one, speak what God says about them, not what you see in the moment.

Terri Savelle Foy says to always add, “and that’s just the way I want it” after your declarations. Try it—it’ll make you think twice about what’s coming out of your mouth!

So today, let’s make a decision to get our mouth and our faith on the same page. Stop defeating your prayers with negative words. God is faithful, and when your faith matches your words, you’ll start to see things shift. Mountains move, doors open, and breakthroughs happen when you believe and speak in agreement with His Word.

Believing with You and Speaking Faith into Your Dreams!

Declaration:
Lord, help me to align my thoughts, my faith, and my words with Your truth. I choose to speak life, not doubt—faith, not fear—and that’s just the way I want it.
