“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” ~ Galatians 6:9
It’s easy to sit around thinking about everything we’re doing wrong. The bad habits. The things we don’t like about ourselves. And when that becomes our focus, it’s no wonder we feel stuck, discouraged, or even depressed.
But what if we flipped the script?
What if instead of constantly dwelling on the things we don’t want to do, we focused our energy on creating one small habit that moves us toward the life we do want?
Let’s say you struggle with eating healthy. You’re hitting the drive-through too often or grabbing processed snacks between errands. It’s real—we’re busy! But instead of beating yourself up, what if you decided to do one good thing today?
That “one good thing” could be just drinking a bottle of water when you wake up. Or, adding a small salad to your lunch each day. Start with just adding ONE HEALTHY ITEM to your diet each day.
If you have a habit of complaining, like so many of us, instead of trying to completely stop (which usually lasts all of 5 minutes), what if you ended each day by writing down three things you’re grateful for? That one good habit could shift your whole perspective.
The Bible says, “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good”(Romans 12:21). That applies to habits, too. You don’t have to fix everything overnight. You just have to start producing fruit—one seed, one habit, one choice at a time.
Start small. Start today. You’re producing something good—and that good habit just might change everything.
