Faith in the Time of Trouble

For we walk by faith, not by sight ~ 2 Corinthians 5:7

We sometimes face situations in our lives that can seem brutal, unfair, hard to overcome.  Circumstances with our finances, our workplace, relationships, spouses, and/or our children can sometimes leave us feeling hopeless.  Is this ever going to change?  Will things ever get any better?  How do I “walk by faith” when everything around me seems to be spinning out of control?  No matter what you are going through, there is hope.

Your faith in what the Word of God declares is your redemption.  What does God’s Word say about the areas in your life that are troublesome?  Financially, He tells us that HE will supply all of our needs, according to His great riches. (Philippians 4:19)  Spiritually, He tells us that He who has begun a great work in you, shall complete it. (Philippians 1:6)  If you raise up your children in the ways of the Lord, when they are old they shall not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6)  You and your household shall be saved. (Acts 16:31).  I can go on and on with scripture after scripture relating to the promises of God that YOU can hold on to while in the midst of the storm.  But today, I want to give you one key point that you can begin to take hold of and see God begin to do a miracle in your life. 2 Corinthians 4:18, “ While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal: but the things which are not seen are eternal.”  The amplified version says that, “ the things that are visible are temporal (brief and fleeting), but the things that are invisible are deathless and everlasting”.  The things we are seeing right now are temporal.  We need to look at things NOT seen.  In other words, what is it that you want to see?  What is it that the Word of God says?  We need to “look” at things in the realm of the spirit and not in the realm of the flesh.

As we begin to train ourselves to see things which are not seen, we will begin to speak and act as if those things we are believing God for are already in existence.  This is walking by faith.  Example, if your son or daughter have gone a little wayward, maybe not pursuing God, or acting in ways you would rather not.  Begin to “see” them living and acting according to God’s principles.  Begin to “speak” to them in the same manner.  A dear friend of mine shared with our ladies group that she was going through a really rough time with one of her children, and she stood on this scripture and began to speak to him saying things like, “I know you’re going to make the right decisions”, and ”you’re a good boy”.  She also told everyone around her that she did not want to speak or hear anything about the “wrong” that he was doing, but instead to begin to speak “positive” things only about her son.  It’s not easy to necessarily do this, but it works.  Standing on God’s Word, and walking in faith works! Her child is now thriving.  He has made a total turn around.  But it took work.

Are you willing to “walk by faith, and not by sight”?  Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”  Faith is our assurance that those things we are hoping for shall come to pass.  Begin to trust Him.  Begin today to take hold of His promises and what His Word declares OVER your circumstances.  Stop looking at what is in the “temporal” and begin to see things “changed”.

God is able to do above and beyond your expectations.  (Ephesians 3:20).  If you have a specific prayer request, please click on the link below and our prayer team will begin to agree with you in prayer.  Let’s see God do another miracle for you!
